Welcome to KOOLADE!

​This is a drawing my cousin, Jonathan Carroll II, made in 2007. UGK and Outkast released International Player's Anthem (best video of all time?? ) that summer and the two of us would watch that video every time it came on. It sparked an indescribable happy emotion and it's one of my cherished memories. My cousin is my favorite artist and a creative in every sense of the word (Gangsta Sh!t 1 was legendary). During this time, we had talked at length about building a lifestyle company, KOOLADE. When we said “lifestyle,” we meant everything: clothes, art, music, experiences, and everything in between. We had really big and audacious goals, accompanied by self-sabotaging behavior and wavering confidence. 

Over the years, I've met many people with the same challenge. How do we get beyond the negative voice in our mind to push past the thoughts that inhibit us? The answer for me has come in spreading and being around love, staying true and authentic to who I am, and releasing the fear that me and my ideas aren't good enough. I share every chance I get, that my kids have transformed my life and been the greatest teachers in that journey. They've helped me unpack years of fear and doubt, and reminded me daily that I’m enough — that we’re enough. The purpose of KOOLADE is to spread love, celebrate authenticity, and empower self-expression.

I'm excited for life and its journeys ahead. I've had folks ask me how far I want to take KOOLADE -- and my answer is, I don't know. A lot has changed since 2007, but the dream to build something iconic remains. The initial launch was all about testing the market for an idea around kids clothing, and understanding the logistics of building an apparel brand. While there's so much more to learn, from that initial launch, I learned more about the business and myself. This space will be where I share those lessons, along with the inspirations, art, and stories that shape both me and KOOLADE.
